Undergraduate Policies
Duke University has high expectations for students’ scholarship and conduct. In accepting admission, students indicate their willingness to subscribe to and be governed by the rules and regulations of the university, which flow from the Duke Community Standard. These policies reflect the Duke Community Standard’s fundamental values – honesty, fairness, respect, and accountability.
Undergraduates acknowledge the right of the university to take disciplinary action, including suspension or expulsion, for failure to abide by the regulations or for other conduct adjudged unsatisfactory or detrimental to the university community.
In addition to local ordinances and state and federal laws, the policies linked at the right govern the undergraduate community. Students/groups should also be aware of event guidelines and registration. Students may also be held accountable for any university policy that may or may not be included on this Web site or in the Duke Community Standard in Practice: A Guide for Undergraduates, or the DCS Guide, whether on or off campus.
Note: While every effort is made to ensure the accuracy of the contents on this Web site, the DCS Guide is the official source of undergraduate behavioral expectations and procedures for adjudicating potential violations of university policy, unless specifically stated that a policy/procedure has changed since publication of the DCS Guide.
Noteworthy changes to the DCS Guide from the previous academic year can be found here.
